Love of Home Inspires Sean A new cd by Sean Kelly captures the many observations and traits of local living in Ireland. Entitled ‘Slainte’ the 13 track compilation is a work of the heart and the end result of twelve years work. Tracks such as ‘Take Me Home’, ‘An Irish Voice’ and ‘Slainte’ all conjure images of emigration and love of home. Other numbers including ‘The Boley Fair’, ‘Country Life’, and ‘An Irish Ceili’ describes the joys and banter of song, living and dance. In addition universal topics such as health and work are covered by ‘A Doctor’s Warning,’ and ‘Work, Work, Work’. Much of the content has been shaped by Sean’s experiences on growing up from his family roots in Rostrevor where he was reared by his parents along with four older brothers and sisters, they all have a love of folk and Irish music, while being part of the Kelly Family Folk group. The group is well known for playing in local venues and charity functions and has the distinction of playing at every Fiddlers Green Festival Rostrevor since it’s inception in 1987. His mother Alice has already published two books of poetry ‘The Wee Half Door’ and ‘Granny’s Pot of Gold’ and is currently finishing a third. Speaking about Slainte, his first recorded piece of work, Sean said, ‘I am delighted to launch this piece of work as it encapsulates many of my experiences growing up here, and I hope it will be enjoyed by all people who listen to it.’ Sean’s album was recorded by Colum Sands Rostrevor and is joined by his brother Paul and sister Bronagh on the album, along with Dolores O’Hare, and Dermot Mc Quaid.
