简介

For those who are less inclined with 1980’s pop culture trivia, a “Flux Capacitor” is what helped Marty McFly accomplish time travel in the classic film, ‘Back to the Future.’ And it’s now a very fitting name for a fast-rising band from Philadelphia, PA, who does a bit of musical “time traveling” themselves. Listing such stylistically varied bands as Cream, Nirvana, and Radiohead as their chief influences, Flux Capacitor is one of the few modern day jam bands that also manages to truly rock and swing – as evidenced by their latest release, ‘They Know We Know.’ Flux Capacitor is comprised of three brothers, Pete Specht-Vocals/Guitar, Mike Specht-Keyboard/Background Vocals, and Jason Specht-Drums (bassist Sean Moran is the only band member without Specht as his last name), and as Jason explains, is still a relatively new band. “The band started around October 2006. My brother Peter and I had been looking around trying to get a new band together, and we happened to run into Sean at a mutual friend’s party. He had been playing around the area with different people, so we talked about getting together to play. Pete and I already had a show booked, and we refused to cancel it even if we had to play it ourselves! So we rehearsed about a week and played the show. We had a really great response that first night, and that is pretty much what set the wheels in motion. Later, we were searching for a keyboardist that understood exactly what we were trying to do. After many auditions, my brother Michael stepped in and blew everyone away - that’s when we knew the band was complete.” From the get-go, Flux Capacitor’s members knew they had come across a special sound that sets them apart from the rest of the pack, as evidenced throughout ‘They Know We Know.’ Case in point, such groove-heavy tracks as “Big Bad ___,” “Drop It,” and especially the monstrous “Moth,” ‘They Know We Know’ is loaded with killer cuts, that should appeal equally to skaters, headbangers, and tie-dye wearers. “’The Game’ is one of my favorites,” adds Sean, “For being a great rockin’ track that everyone had made better and better, ‘Walk On Water’ for being one of the catchiest songs that sounds great, ‘Drop It’ for being a great opening for our album, and the many interpretations that come to mind when hearing it. Also, ‘Moth’ for no other reason than it kicks a**, and ‘ATF’ for being a live cult favorite.” The sessions for the album contain many standout memories as well, according to Pete. “All of my memories of this album are pretty electrified - we all felt a sense of urgency, and that we were creating something truly awesome. I drove an hour and half to do the song ‘Moth’ in a gigantic rainstorm…with no windshield wipers! When I sang ‘Rain,’ guys in the studio from another group saw these glowing orbs of light in the yard around the studio. I think recording ‘Big Bad’ was one of my favorite nights, where we had a small crew of people and fans in the studio with us and we felt all this energy. The vibe in the room kept us elevated ‘til we reached the climax of the song. Producer Dave Ivory got a good take and we had to speed to a show late, and when we got their the whole place was packed with our fans waiting for us. Everybody in the club grabbed gear and helped out. It was way cool, a day and night among many of feeling super high!” As with most bands that are jam-heavy, the true Flux Capacitor experience is live on stage, and fans will soon be getting a chance to catch the band in concert. “We plan on bringing our music to anyone who likes to listen to rock music,” adds Sean. “We plan on making plenty of albums and backing it up with a great live show. I see fans attending an energetic melodic show that actually has something to say. It's the kind of show you can feel through the music.” And lastly, Jason was willing to fill us in on Flux Capacitor’s future plans. “Our future plans are to tour all over/everywhere we can, record multiple new records, and create a movement in this time that is so ready for change. And get our sound, music, and message to the entire world.” Soon, the world will be bopping their heads in time to the groovy Flux Capacitor beat.
