My life has been always at the crossover of things. Of Places, of cultures, of genres. Although I have always loved strongly defined musical genres, especially ethnic music, it seems that my own trajectory was to cross a multitude of them in order to find my own; Ariadne is the result of a crossover between my classical studies, especially my love for Debussy , Ravel and Stravinsky, and my exploration of Turkish, Greek and Indian music, fused with my experiences in improvisation and free jazz. I know the result of this sounds like none of the traditions I mentioned, but during the process I have found my own stylistic ideations, of playing the Harp. Every piece of Ariadne had been recorded in one take. I wanted it that way, so the listener can hear the special and very real interaction of the hands playing different melodic and rhythmic patterns. Ariadne is not only a crossroad of my life’s travels (a life scattered between Paris, India, and Greece) but it is also a happy crossover between my harp, and Vangelis Zissis and Kostas Papadoukas, who have put their wonderful imagination and sensitivity to work and followed completely the aesthetics that I have for each piece.
