Biography of Devin: Devin was born in Odessa Texas on January 24, 1984. He was in love with music for as long as he could remember. In fact when Devin got in trouble his music was taken away from him as a punishment. When Devin got picked on by the kids at the playground at age three in California all he could remember was thinking, "All I have to do is sing and that will be my weapon against my enemies." At age five Devin was on stage at his church in Dallas with a microphone. At age eight he started writing lyrics and at eleven Devin started rapping. His first main rap influence was a group called, Full Effect. Basically, Devin would listen to any Christian rap artist until he was about fourteen. From age fourteen to nineteen Devin had drifted off into other music and during that time Tupac was a major influence on him. From the time he started rapping he would rap for anyone he possibly could. Numerous times he would sit in his room for hours, days, and weeks at a time developing more of his own rapping skills. If Devin wasn't in his room he would be rapping anywhere for anyone. At age seventeen to eighteen Devin would have crowds from twenty to fifty people around him listening to him rap. He started using drugs at age sixteen, that's when he took ecstasy for the first time and by the age of nineteen Devin was at his worst. He went from taking a few oxy contin a week to doing three hundred Oxy Contin in two weeks. He became addicted to crystal meth and began drinking alcohol every day. April twenty-first 2003 was the day he quit everything because God had touched him. From that point on Devin spent a lot of time in isolation dwelling in the presence of God. The Lord was preparing Devin to be used for His Glory. In May 2005 he moved up to North Alabama from Florida to work at a Transitional living home called the Bridge. Devin was a counselor and the night watchman. He would stay up late at night praying for all of the guys and their families. As Devin became obedient to the Lord, the Lord then started opening up doors for him and Devin started to perform for churches. Overwhelmingly, he had the opportunity to open up with one of his own songs for, the Reflection of Something Tour in Florence AL. During the promotion for the concert, He was given the opportunity to rap live at the fix radio station in Florence AL. That is when Devin met a producer named John Eley. During that point, Trent Stephenson, John Eley and himself put together Devin’s first project called "Better Way."
