In 1989 Irina Tseitlin and Patrick Dheur organized festival of Alfred Schnittke’s music in Brussels and Liege, Belgium. At that time Alfred Schnittke was admired and respected by small group of his colleagues and followers, but not widely known in the West as nowadays. For 10 days Schnittke’s chamber and instrumental music was performed in daily concerts. At the opening concert at Royal Theater in Brussels, hall was packed with composers and composition students with pocket scores in hands. Alfred and his wife Irina were present at every concert and worked closely with musicians. This CD was produced shortly after the festival with direct input of Alfred Schnittke. Irina Tseitlin studied at the Moscow Central Music School for Exceptionally Gifted Children and at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory with Professor Yuri Yankelevich and Leonid Kogan. After graduation Ms. Tseitlin was invited to join the faculty at the College of Moscow Conservatory. Ms. Tseitlin won top prizes in the Queen Elisabeth International Competition in Brussels, Belgium, ARD Bayerische Rundfunk International Competition in Munich, Germany, and Montreal International Competition, Canada.. In 1980 Ms. Tseitlin was awarded a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and made her New York debut in at the Alice Tully Hall to high critical acclaim. In 1981 Ms. Tseitlin was invited to join the faculty of the California State University at Los Angeles. Ms. Tseitlin appeared as a soloist with the Montreal Symphony, Munich Radio Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Moscow Soloists (Yuri Bashmet), BBC Symphony, Liege Philharmonic, Belgian National Orchestra, California Chamber Orchestra, and San Diego Symphony, among others. She has performed and toured in Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Japan, and Korea. Ms. Tseitlin has recorded for Deutsche Grammophon, Duchesne, and CAMUS labels. Her CD of Alfred Schnittke music won the Grand Pix at 1992 MIDI in Amsterdam and in 1985 Ms. Tseitlin was awarded Szymanovski Prize by Polish government for her performances and recordings of Karol Szymanovski's music. She has collaborated in chamber music ensembles with such performers and conductors as Zubin Mehta, Pinchas Zukerman, Yuri Bashmet, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Rafael Kubelik, Morton Guld, Mindi Rodan, Mikhail Koppelman, Steven Kates, Paul Newbauer,, Shirley Treppel, and Toby Saks. She has worked closely with Alfred Schnittke and performed and recorded most of his violin works. Well-known Portuguese composer Antonio Victorino D'Almeida dedicated to her Dialogues for Violin and Piano, premiered by Ms. Tseitlin in 2004. His new piece Fantasia for Violin and Piano also dedicated to Miss Tseitlin was premiered in Mozambique at the Maputo International Music Festival in April 2005. Irina Tseitlin has always been passionately interested in teaching. Since 1990 Ms. Tseitlin has held a professorship at the California Institute of Music in San Diego. Patrick Dheur is one of major Belgian pianists and composers. Mr. Dheur studied piano with Nikita Magaloff in Geneva and Leon Fleisher in Baltimore. He was a soloist with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Soloists of Moscow and Yuri Bashmet, the National Orchestra of Belgium, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Liege, Grenoble Philharmonic, Springfield Symphony, Norfolk Symphony, the Philharmonic Orchestra, Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra “G. Enesco” of Bucharest, and Wiener Sinfonietta among others. His discography lists17 CDs and includes complete piano works by César Franck distributed by Sony Classical. Mr. Dheur is keenly interested in the old historical pianos, and is involved in organization of several festivals of music in Belgium. He is a passionate champion of contemporary music and several contemporary concerti are dedicated to him. Patrick Dheur is also a devoted teacher and is frequently invited to give master classes in United States and Europe. He is regularly invited to sit in the jury of many international competitions. Mr. Dheur is a prolific composer. His major works include “Rotarian symphony”, recorded by the orchestra of the Royal Opera of Wallonia, various works for piano and orchestra, chamber orchestra, a vocal Ballet “the Key of the Worlds” for piano chorus of children and orchestra, a great biblical Cantata “the Gospel of Midsummer's Day”. Patrick Dheur is also the author of a literary work “Music of the end of the fingers” published in 2001 with the Editions Luc Pire and is working on a forthcoming book “The Prison of the sounds”. His 2007 concerts include concerts in Belgium, France, Italy, Denmark, China and USA. Mr. Dheur is represented by Belgian Concerts Office and ITM Artists.
