简介
Putting everything he is and everything he knows into his music, Jayme "Mickey D" McDonald is an aspiring hip-hop artist from Kenora, Ontario currently based out of Vancouver, BC, Canada. MD's been writing since he was eleven and started battling when he was sixteen, where he was snuck into bars to showcase his raw talent. Mickey D dropped his first mixtape for free when he was seventeen (Vol. I- The Untouchables) a five track disc. He handed out five hundred copies in two days. A year later he put out his first real album (Vol. II- Blood In Blood Out) a twelve track EP, that was the 2nd shot of a strong "1-2 Punch". The success of the well reviewed and received album generated an onslaught of shows and opportunity for Mickey D. He continued with the release of a mixtape (Vol. I Dieslow Records: The Mixtape), featuring other local MC's over his own production. Shortly after, MD released a similar project featuring songs from all three of his brothers and their individual work (featuring various music genres.) In 2005 Jayme moved to Vancouver, British Columbia to attend Pacific Audio Visual Institute for audio engineering. While attending school, Mickey D recorded and completed the material for his current release "The Colossal Situation LP". He can always be found in the midst of some phase of a production deal, busy making music for artists such as: Optimistik, Jay Mizz, Eternal Love, Ozmosis, Pro Fresh N Ill, Alan Africa and releasing collaborative work with Monumental, Chillz and James H (Unofishal IkonZ). His most recent projects involve a soundtrack for an upcoming documentary entitled "The Hip Hop Massive: Holla" produced by Aleyna May, and vocal features on the releases "The Beginning" from Eternal Love and North Vancouver's own Ozmosis' "eNVy" producing and guest versing with Monumental on the record. A large bulk of his side-project energy goes towards "Noobie Noobinson & The Double Boomskees". A multi-member collaborative effort created by Joel Koch (Zeny D) & Noah Stacey (Dr.Know) depicting the tales of the members of a spacecraft (The Double Boomskees) that tours the galaxy in the pursuit of Noobie Noobinson (A large mystical being with an Orb for a head that possesses infinite creative energy) and the characters they meet along the way (Karl The Red, Old Man Wolver, etc...) has since seen the creative monster balloon from 2 members at its inception to over 10+ active members at any given time. The back story of how Mickey D could possibly be involved in such an off-shoot project lies within the first release, "Season One", in the song "Where Exactly?" as MD finds himself on a drug trip caught up with a new creative entity guiding him along, hence "Tungsten & Shrooms" MD's involvement with NN & TDB has expanded even deeper as "Season Two" wraps up and MD is featured on 4 full-length tracks. All in all, remaining positive in the face of an industry that can often times be described as overflowing with lazy and un-inspiring artists, Mickey D is a strong example of how a consistent effort and humble mindstate can produce (literally) the most interesting results. -Written by Vanessa Klobucar (2009)
