简介
What began as a suggestion while driving through the English countryside one sunny afternoon ultimately became Karin Marcello's debut album entitled "Vision." "Vision" includes well-known pieces from the flute repertoire as well as some lesser known works and new arrangements by producer Barry Hartglass. The CD features a variety of orchestrations divided by thirds, one having flute and chamber orchestra, another flute and piano, and another flute and harp. There are three flute solos included as well. A beautiful collection of pieces by Bach, Chopin, Mozart, Faure, Debussy, Doppler, Telemann, Gossec and Satie. Two new contemporary works, one composed by Barry and one by Karin are also included. Barry's piece "Tarot" for flute and harp was written for Karin inspired by her work as a psychic. Her fourth generation gift of being a psychic and musician has led her to be interviewed by A&E, the WE Network, News 12 and countless newspapers and magazines. Karin is also a sound healer who uses quartz bowls and the flute in healing workshops. This spiritual, introspective work has also inspired her to create her composition "Vision." Karin's debut CD showcases her uniquely mysterious and open sound. She has been performing and studying music for 20 years as a soloist and ensemble member. She started her musical journey as a child growing up listening to orchestral recordings her father used to play each night at dinner. As a child she learned voice, keyboard, violin, and then pursued flute in favor of the others. She studied flute privately and through university, graduating the University of Chicago in 2002 with an award for "Best Creative Thesis" for a piece she wrote and recorded for flute. Karin currently performs locally and internationally as a soloist, performs as a guest artist with various ensembles, plays on recording sessions, and teaches at her home studio. Proficient in both sight reading and playing by ear makes Karin ideal for working with accompanists of any instrument and genre. Karin composes and records original works as well as flute parts for contemporary composers. Perfect pitch and the ability to read music have made her sought after for studio sessions and live performances requiring demanding solos and subtle harmonies. The other musicians featured on the album include harpist Karen Lindquist, pianist Doris Ann McMullen, and Anthony Morejon playing second flute on the Doppler piece. Orchestra.net is the live orchestra used for the chamber works.
