Drew Grow has been on the Portland indie music scene for nearly a decade. Katrina Skalland, who is from the band Deluxe, comes from Sacramento, CA, and now lives in Portland. Drew and Katrina Skalland met in Sacramento, while Grow’s old band Careen was on tour. Katrina loved the music, ‘felt like she was watching history in the making’, and the band went out to an all hours breakfast joint after the show. Drew and Katrina ended up talking early into the morning about music and The Fountainhead while the other members of the band were at the party, or sleeping in the van. Katrina’s songwriting, her perspective, and urgent voice made it a perfect fit, in Drew’s mind, for them to collaborate on an EP. She had already sung on a couple of songs on Drew's debut solo album "Next Lips" which was released in 2006, to a great response from fans. After many live appearances together when they happened to be in the same city, Drew and Katrina decided to team up on the album that would later be titled Sow to Sow. Along with Grow’s band, The Pastors’ Wives, in two successive weekend sessions at Drew’s house, and a few days tracking and mixing with Evan Hodge in Medford, OR, Sow to Sow was completed. The album brings haunting and melancholy mixed with inspiring and fun songs for a collaborative, ambient EP. Katrina wrote four of the songs on the EP (Tracks 2, 3, 6 & 7), while Drew wrote three songs (Tracks 1, 4, 5). They collaborated on each others’ songs with Drew’s band The Pastors’ Wives.
