简介
This aptly-titled two-disk set truly does contain Everything and more. Called a "Mastermind" by What's Up? Magazine, Terrill Thompson delivers insightful, intelligent songs in a variety of musical styles, including rock, blues, folk, salsa, doo-wop, bluegrass and jazz. Each track offers a fresh surprise, yet Thompson weaves it all together seamlessly. Disk 1 ("Day") features eleven new pop tunes, each one utterly unique, with melodies that linger long after listening, like a pleasant aftertaste. Disk 2 ("Night") opens with Still Life With Clocks, a startling, beautiful 30-minute guitar improvisation over the sounds of clocks and other ambient percussion. The remaining tracks on this disk continue in a haunting, mournful vein, finally resolving with the touching folk ballad The Early Ears, dedicated to, and performed with, Thompson's late mother (a masterful yodeler). This is Thompson's debut album under his given name, having previously recorded as Flow Theory and Morality Rock. The Flow Theory CD, titled Flavors, prompted critics to praise his "innovative songwriting" talents and "explosive guitar chops", but Everything and more may arguably be an even finer work. Everything and more is a delectable listening feast.
