简介
SelfTitled is a new project from Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist and composer David P. Larsen. As SelfTitled, he carefully crafts musical motives which punctuate his spoken and sung lyrics. The result pushes the boundaries of the spoken word in music, pulling from influences as diverse as Cake and Muse while calling upon his own musical experience to blend those influences. “While Ideas Collide” is SelfTitled’s debut EP, recorded and mixed entirely in David’s home studio and mastered by Wolf Mastering. Every writer has stories to tell. Some are able to find their voice quickly. For others, it takes many years of steps and missteps, trial and error, success and failure. For over 15 years, this writer searched for his voice while contributing melodic bass lines, powerful horn lines, and skillful recording to other artists. Now, he is finally ready to tell his own stories. Sparked by a love for intricate instrumentation, unusual harmonies, and the written word, SelfTitled embraces a style rarely seen on the main stage. “While Ideas Collide” is a collection of five songs expressing love, loss, despair, frustration, and hope. While writing, performing, and programming every sound, SelfTitled strives to make those sounds tell his stories. Guitars from longtime collaborator Jason Miller fill in the gaps on “Hands” and “One Last Night.” Following the release of “While Ideas Collide,” SelfTitled is writing and recording more music. Look out for new singles in the near future, and a follow-up album later down the line. David is also a music teacher and an active composer of instrumental works, and is seeking publication for new works in the coming months.
