简介
Of the many instrumental trios active in Brazil in the mid-'60s, Sambalanço Trio had not only one of the best pianists in César Camargo Mariano but also the best percussionist, hands down, in Airto Moreira. (Bassist Humberto Clayber was no slouch either.) Improviso Negro showed them expanding their dynamic range over their early LPs, ranging from tender balladry to clattering bossa nova workouts. The songs include three by the great Marcos Valle, one by Edú Lobo, and one by Lúcio Alves, plus two solid compositions by the band itself. (AMG)
