Luca Ripanti (Turin, Italy, 1964) graduated in flute with Barbara Klein at the Alessandria Conservatoire, later attending some prestigious international masterclasses. He has working as a flute teacher from 1983 to 1998. After performing with several chamber groups and working with symphonic and opera orchestras, he began the study of the baroque flute, attending the International Summercourses for Harpsichord in Oporto (Portugal) for four years, thanks to a scholarship of the EEC. He has been playing as a soloist with period instruments ensembles and baroque orchestras in Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal and Tunisy, working with conductors such as Simon Preston, Pál Németh and Jean-Claude Malgoire. He has recorded two cds with works by G. P. Telemann, J. Kuhnau and J. S. Bach, and another one with the four Bach authentic flute Sonatas and Partita. He has translated and issued the modern Italian edition of Johann Joachim Quantz Treatise on the transverse flute (1752), the Interpretation of the music of XVII and XVIII centuries by Arnold Dolmetsch both already re-printed for the second time the three Treatises by Francesco Saverio Geminiani on the violin (1748-1751), and Principles of Orchestration by N. Rimskij-Korsakov, all published by Rugginenti Editore, Milan. In 1999 he has been hired by the Direction of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della Rai, in charge of the Artistic Secretariat, a position he still holds. Luca Ripanti plays two flutes made by Rudolf Tutz in Innsbruck, after an instrument by G. A. Rottenburgh (Bruxelles 1703-1768) and by J.H. Grenser (Dresden 1764-1813).
