Erhard Bauschke - a German swing and jazz legend! His tragic death during an appearance in an American jazz club on 8 October 1945 ended the life of one of the best German swing musicians at the very young age of only 33 years. After his release as an American prisoner of war, he played in clubs of the American Army in the Frankfurt am Main area. After such an appearance, he stood behind a truck and was fatally run over by a jeep. His star rose in the mid-30s. The Erhard Bauschke Orchestra was by all means capable of competing with international bands. Between 1936 and 1942, the versatile clarinettist and his band produced a great variety of records, including more international jazz and swing standards than any other German orchestra at that time.
