our influences come from the rich culture of eastern, devotional music (chanting, kirtan and soulful sing) but also covers a whole range of different styles of music from around the world. We play the songs of our spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy, creating our own sound around these mantric like songs. We live a spiritual life style practicing Meditation to search within and still the mind. Sri Chinmoy also encourages us to keep the body physically fit so we are able to sit still and calm. Our music is a simple offering to humanity hoping to inspire and touch the inner heart that we all have inside us. Monk Party also has a Kirtan group, singing Sri Chinmoy's bhajans. These captivating melody's put you in bliss like trance where you are completely in the moment singing right from within. Monk Party has played some gigs in america, we played at coffee shops in New York and got to play at a spiritual festival to over 2000 people. We are based in Auckland, New Zealand. you can catch us playing at The Blue Bird Cafe or throughout festivals.
