” This disc, our fourth, is a sort of sequel to The Great Lent of 2015 – a work composed by me and one of the foremost premieres in the 10th anniversary year – 2013 – of the Krysostomos Chamber Choir. Most of the items on this present CD, Deesis, were composed specifically for the choir and were, like The Great Lent, premiered in that anniversary year. Collaboration with contemporary Finnish composers is a fundamental item on the Krysostomos agenda: we commission new works and each year give first performances. In this way we try to find new modes of expression for the sacred texts of the Orthodox Church. It pleases me to think that the music of the composers on this disc has helped in this respect.” - Mikko Sidoroff
