Vidushi Sangeeta Bandyopadhyay, one of the leading Indian Classical vocalists of India, is an exponent of Lucknow, Patiala and Indore Gharana. She is the first Indian vocalist to perform at Son d'Hiver Festival Paris (Universal Tonality), Vision Jazz Festival New York (Double Sunrise Over Neptune), Gong Festival Torino, Beethoven Musik Festival Bonn (Bridge to India - first time ever in world music - a vocal duo with soprano) and “LA VOCE” vocal festival Parma.Among her several national and international albums, KHAYAL from SAREGAMA India limited was nominated under the best Indian classical vocal album by the GiMA Awards in 2013. Her song "Prayer" has been featured in the album “The Greatest Songs Ever: India” by Petrol. "Shruti","Bhakti", "Puja", "Sangita"and"Double sunrise over Neptune" are very famous world premier releases to receive highly appreciative reviews in the world famous music journal like "Wire", "All about jazz" and so on. Her fusion numbers "Mother Earth" and "Morning Mantra" has reached the top ten chart of world music and world jazz music in 1998 and 2008 respectively. Her bands namely In-diva jazz (Indo-jazz band) and Raag Rangeela (Hindustani and Carnatic jugalbandi band) has earned big name in the collaborative music era. Sangeeta has pioneered vocal workshop and seminars in Cini Foundation Venice, Hochschule der Kunste Berlin, Jazz Institute Berlin, Hochschule fur Musik both Dressden and Hamburg for several years. She is the founder of the SANGEET AMRITAM, an institution dedicated to the teaching and promotion of good music and musical crossover.
