简介
Animal hands are an indie rock band formed by singer songwriter Danielle Whalebone, she celebrated the release of her bands debut EP at Cherry Bar in April 2013. Animal Hands self titled EP produced by Lindsay Gravina (Rowland.S Howard,Cosmic Psychos, Magic Dirt )has been described as “Authentic underground seventies punk/wave with today's production” by Lords of Metal (NED). The EP received a resplendent response gaining international reviews and airplay on Triple R, PBS, FBI and Triple M. As well as LA Talkback radio, college and community radio stations in Australia and across the world including KGRG the station that launched the Seattle sound. Tone Deaf (AU) described "Animal Hands as pleasing to the ear. The garage, grunge sounds in juxtaposition to front woman Danielle Whalebone’s crooning vocals is a great combination.” Excited by the prospect of a new female fronted, grunge band writer Machine Steve The Black Flag Magazine (UK) characterises Animal Hands debut EP as “beautiful in it’s own post-punk way”. Whilst Danielle is influenced by 90’s rock her lyrics have been regarded as poetic. Mustard Relics (US) states “Grunge seems to be the word of day for reviewers of Animal Hands, but I have to admit that was not the first word I would have used to describe the band. I realise that just because a band doesn’t immediately bash you in the face, doesn’t make them tame. Animal Hands, is not tame. It’s more subtle, Their music is easy to listen to, but it’s far from easy listening. In fact lyrically, this is some pretty heavy stuff, poetry really.” During the past year Danielle directed and co-edited her own film clips whist working with an entirely new line up. Bassist Russell Murchie has undertaken the bands graphic design work and Danielle has once again chosen to have Melbourne artist Lucy Hardie’s artwork as the cover art on their upcoming release. The single “Roaring Girle” is inspired by the story of underworld figure Mary Frith. Drawing parallels with the feminist rock movement in the late eighties and early nineties. Danielle writes of the original Riot Girrrl performing on a stage that was only for men. The film clip will feature the work of costume designer Elizabeth Davies of “Vaudeville Costumes”. Music Beacon (UK) said that “considering the band only formed in 2011, they have covered a lot of ground very quickly. Finding their sound, recording and releasing in under two years is a very impressive accomplishment”. The year long wait to get back to the studio was worth hanging on for, Animal Hands next releases are charged with the energy of the bands most recent member drummer Steve Kova, regarded by the Dwarf (AU) as “a band that has enough balls to bring back the grunge, fronted by a woman with all the strength and grace of Adalita Srsen of Magic Dirt”. Their new single will be debuted on PBS by Ken Eavel on his program “Go for Broke”. Animal Hands have been gigging around Melbourne for the past few months with Danielle grinding out her riffs complimented by her beautifully stitched together lyrics and now with the soaring leads of Francesco Manuse.
