With his new CD, “Rival do Destino”, João Araújo celebrates 20 years as a composer and invites the listener on a journey through various musical genres. The repertory ranges from traditional Brazilian samba and frevo to American jazz. This is a CD inspired by multiplicity, including several musical rhythms, sound atmospheres and the participation of various singers. It also features some of João Araújo’s musical partners.

João Araújo is a Brazilian composer, poet, percussionist and record producer. He was born in Recife, a city with influences from European, African and the Indigenous peoples of the American continent culture. These influences have informed the eclectic expressions in his work. He comes from a multidisciplinary academic background with a master degree in Physics and another one in Contemporary Literature.
