V; is a post-punk band from Boston, Massachusetts, USA comprising guitarists Gary Gogel and George (Dakota) Petcoff, drummer Matt Burns, bassist Joe Cuneo and vocalist Susan Anway. Active on the east coast music scene from 1979-1982, V;'s song 1926 scored an indie hit, with Ich Liebe, Wardrobes in Hell/You're A Weapon, Need and more popularon college rock and punk/metal stations in the US and EU. In performance V; shared the stage with many neo-punk, no wave, punk metal and experimental groups such as Boston's Mission of Burma, The Wild Stares, NYC's Circus Mort (Swans' creator Michael Gira's band), New order, The Members, The Delta Five, Stiv Bators, Martin Atkins of PiL, Freed Frith, the Slits, at venues including Max's Kansas City, Studio 54. Hurrah, Private's, The Marble Bar, Boston's Paradise Theater, and the infamous Underground. V;'s indie hit 1926, sung by Susan Anway, is here. Anway went on to record as vocalist with The Magnetic Fields, and is currently 1/3 of the German/US band Diskarnate. Gogel and Burns later formed the band Nightland.
