简介

Darcy Donavan has made her mark as a multi-talented performer: acting, singing, and dancing, and finding success in all three areas. Darcy was born to young teenage parents in Miami, Florida. They divorced when she was two years old. Things were tough for Darcy's single mother who moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and struggled with raising Darcy on her own, at times working two to three jobs to make ends meet. Like a flower in the desert, Darcy still thrived at school, where her affinity for music and acting first showed while she was a member of the drama club and the church choir. Darcy landed her first major acting role at the age of 8 in a national commercial where she beat out over 500 other kids. From that moment on, Darcy knew where her destiny lay. She also used her talent to help others around her by performing at children's hospitals, as well as raising money for many charities in her hometown of Nashville. Darcy's young mother remarried and unfortunately became a victim of domestic violence. Darcy witnessed violence against her mother and was also abused by her then stepfather. Her mother went into hiding, and Darcy went to live with her grandparents. In her grandparents' home, she finally felt safe and her musical aspirations blossomed. Her grandfather, Joseph Mancini, bought her first guitar and microphone after seeing his granddaughter's growing talent. Due to his encouragement, Darcy won a Battle of the Bands against 500 contestants. Darcy was again devastated several years later, when her grandfather passed away due to cancer. In the acting and music he had shared with her, she found an escape from the trauma of his death. Darcy continued to thrive and won numerous talent and beauty competitions, including a stint as Ms. Nashville, Tennessee. A well-known agent cast her in several national films, television shows and commercials. Around this time she began her singing career, touring with several name artists around the United States. Darcy's first album broke platinum status in Canada and gained worldwide exposure. With her career growing, she moved to Los Angeles, where she appeared in several top films such as "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", "Showtime" with Robert Deniro and Eddie Murphy and "Tomcats" with Jerry O'Connell and Shannon Elizabeth. Darcy also won roles in television shows such as NBC's "My Name is Earl", NBC's "Las Vegas" with James Caan and ABC's soap opera "Passions." She played the role of "Sherry" in the blockbuster comedy "Anchorman," starring Will Ferrell and Christina Applegate. During this time Darcy's singing career also exploded with an album titled "Distraction," garnering over 20 million listens to date. Songs from "Distraction" gained international press and one eclipsed the competition as the number one ring tone download in the United States on major cell phone networks in 2010. Darcy has been lauded for her charitable work for domestic violence awareness, a cause close to her heart due to her own personal experiences, and was given an award by the Los Angeles city council for speaking out on this issue. She has also supported public school programs that are battling tight budgets nationwide. Apart from her reputation as a performer in several fields, many know Darcy as a savvy entrepreneur and writer. She continues her successful acting career, to craft her music, as well as, co-producing and writing two feature films in Los Angeles, CA. Even though she has worked very hard to achieve her successes, anyone can always hear her giving thanks to God, her mother and her grandfather for where she is today.
