My born name is Terrence Benjamin, the name FLIP was chosen due to the fact that I'm always going through changes. Every time I think something is going right, the tables turn... I was born in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina on January 25, 1979. I always had a lot of love for music. I grew up listening to Kool G. Rap, K-Solo, Run DMC & JMJ, Audio 2, EPMD, Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, Real Roxanne, BDP, Digital Underground, Nas, Slick Rick, Tupac, Kurtis Blow, Steady B, and many more but I never thought of being part of the industry. I'd rather be in the street playing basketball, or playing a video game, regular teenager things, ya know. In 1994 I moved to SE Washington DC. A lot of things happened while I was coming up in SE and NE areas of the city. Without any friends in this new environment, I started to focus more on writing my thoughts down. My brother influenced me to pick up a pen and pad and release my thoughts, whether negative or positive. I feel like my presence is truly a blessing. I now know that I was put on this earth for a reason, I began getting more serious about my new love, MUSIC. To me, Music = Therapy! What better way to get your thoughts out than to write it down. Get it off ya chest, instead of getting it of ya list, ya know. In my opinion, there is too much hate and not enough togetherness. I truthfully feel that I'm dat dude that can make the hardest kat feel him, or da oldest {m/f } ride to his words.

My goal is to touch the souls of the world, all ages, and all races. I feel that the game has changed dramatically since the old school days of hip hop. A lot of rap artists get caught up in money, and forget about the main focus, which is LOVE. I feel that I'm a lyricist. I would like for my poetic verses to reach out and hold the hands of the blind to guide them. Recently, I've had the opportunity to show my growing talent of producing. My goal is to learn as much as I can, whatever that may consist of. You never can learn too much.
