简介
Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Franco Badini is the son of Italian immigrants who came to America in search of a better life. He grew up listening to Classic Rock & Roll, until groups like Run-DMC and LL Cool J inspired him to make a transition to rap music. As he listened to the music, he began to understand the hip-hop culture. By the time he reached high school, he and a childhood friend began writing lyrics and battling in the streets. They soon met a local DJ at a party and formed a group called Ace of Spades. In a short time the group began to gain exposure and popularity throughout the city of Pittsburgh. Their achievements included winning the Pittsburgh City Paper's "Best Rap Group of the Year" award in 1991 and 1992, and performing live shows including opening for Chubb Rock and Brand Nubians. But like many artists who are young and anxious, things began to fall apart, and the group eventually dismantled. After high school, reality kicked in and street hustling became a way of life for Franco. He and some of his childhood friends were soon running the neighborhood. As the years went by, his street savvy and ability to avoid being incarcerated gained him respect from others, and earned him the nickname Frank White. But after years of living life on the edge, Frank started wanting something different than what the streets had to offer. He decided to go back to doing what he once loved. And that was, of course, making music and writing lyrics. He began to put his first album together, and started working with other local rap artists in the process. This included groups such as Family Orientated, True Colors, and Lil' Spy, collectively known as M.R.B. (McKees Rocks Borough). Over the next few years Frank tried to shake off the reputation that he'd earned on the streets, and instead, earn one as a rap artist. During that time he released another album locally, and started his own label, White Cloud Records. That name was chosen to represent a more positive atmosphere. In 2002 he began performing live at clubs and venues in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas. He also began producing and recording songs for what would become his third album. In 2003 he released the first single, Godfather, and followed up with the release of the self titled album, Frank White, which sold over 1,000 copies throughout the city of Pittsburgh. In 2004 Frank was back in the lab writing, producing and recording songs for himself and others. He teamed up with two of Pittsburgh's well known up & coming producers, Blak Czer and Mindbenders. This project has culminated into his highly anticipated, fourth full length release, I Want In, which was released in the spring of 2005. This album is sure to cement his name in the rap industry and make a major impact on the music world. On the heels of this CD, Frank also released two mixtapes (The City Is Mine & Ear 2 Tha Street), which he recorded with DJ Cadillac, one of Pittsburgh's most well known and respected underground DJs. With Cadillac on the turntables and Frank's nonstop lyrical flows, the mixtapes are quickly spreading throughout neighborhoods and cities in the northeast region of the country. As a result of strong label promotion (singles, mixtapes and live performances), Frank has been gaining the respect of many DJs around the world. He's also created a strong fan base for an independent artist. Frank is pleased to see his vision of transforming from respected hustler to respected rap artist becoming reality. With the momentum in his favor, Frank is continuing to work hard, and plans to stay in the rap game for a long time. In his own words, Frank White claims "The best is yet to come!"
