"I Remember You" is the first album I ever recorded. It was recorded in the Fall of 2007, just about a year after I moved to New York City from Israel. It is dedicated to my mother, a tremendous artist, who died on December 22nd 2005. It was her life ambition to see me grow as an artist, and fulfill my desires. Thank you mom. The songs on the album are pretty diverse, ranging from straight-ahead jazz, Latin, funk, and even gospel influences. Yet, there is a very strong feeling of flow, as each song takes you on another part of the journey. Just as eclectic as the arrangements is the rhythm section (and singer) featured on the CD, coming from Canada, Russia, and Japan. And they are all some of the best jazz musicians in New York. "I Remember You" is the sum of all my influences, and the first recorded statement I made since moving to "The Jazz Capital of The World." Noted for his fresh approach to jazz, saxophonist and composer Yaron Elyashiv stays true to tradition as he keeps looking forward into the future. Originally from Israel, Mr. Elyashiv has already been making a name for himself after only two years in New York, leading his groups at the legendary Minton's Playhouse, Silver Spring Jazz Festival, NAACP 100th Anniversary, Barnes & Noble, and a live radio broadcast at the WBGO studios in Newark. In 2007, Mr. Elyashiv was invited to record with veteran jazz singer, Myrna Lake, on her latest album Yesterdays. Just a few months later he released his debut album as a leader entitled I Remember You, for Jazzing Music.
