简介
"I Remember You" is the first album I ever recorded. It was recorded in the Fall of 2007, just about a year after I moved to New York City from Israel. It is dedicated to my mother, a tremendous artist, who died on December 22nd 2005. It was her life ambition to see me grow as an artist, and fulfill my desires. Thank you mom. The songs on the album are pretty diverse, ranging from straight-ahead jazz, Latin, funk, and even gospel influences. Yet, there is a very strong feeling of flow, as each song takes you on another part of the journey. Just as eclectic as the arrangements is the rhythm section (and singer) featured on the CD, coming from Canada, Russia, and Japan. And they are all some of the best jazz musicians in New York. "I Remember You" is the sum of all my influences, and the first recorded statement I made since moving to "The Jazz Capital of The World." Recommended for jazz, bebop, cool jazz, hard-bop, mainstream jazz lovers. Yaron Elyashiv - Tenor saxophone Andrei Ryabov - Guitar Ruslan Khain - Bass Phil Stewart - Drums Taeko Ota - Vocals (Track 8) “[I Remember You is] a sparkling musical statement.” Edward Blanco / e Jazz News “His soloing and improvisational skills bring to mind legendary greats Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins.” Larry Taylor / Jazz Review "Yaron is a wonderful saxophonist, a part of the next generation of Jazz." Dan Karcher / WBGO 98.3 FM Biography For a long time modern jazz has been misrepresented to the public as music for musicians. Noted for his fresh approach to jazz, saxophonist and composer Yaron Elyashiv stays true to tradition as he keeps looking forward into the future. Originally from Israel, Mr. Elyashiv has already been making a name for himself after only two years in New York, leading his groups at the legendary Minton's Playhouse, Silver Spring Jazz Festival, NAACP 100th Anniversary, Barnes & Noble, and a live radio broadcast at the WBGO studios in Newark. Some of the clubs he performed include Smalls, Cleopatra’s Needle, Swing 46, Saint Nick's Pub, Sweet Rhythm, Fat Cat, Jules Bistro, as well as The CUNY Jazz Festival. Mr. Elyashiv has performed as a leader and a sideman with great musicians such as Ugonna Okegwo, Andrei Ryabov, Daniela Shaechter, Ruslan Khain, Tommy James, Bertha Hope, Satoshi Inoue, Kengo Nakamura, Myrna Lake, Dmitri Kolesnik, Noah Haidu, Phil Stewart, Ari Roland, Sacha Perry, Will Terril and Richard Clements. In 2007, Mr. Elyashiv was invited to record with veteran jazz singer, Myrna Lake, on her latest album Yesterdays. Just a few months later he released his debut album as a leader entitled I Remember You, for Jazzing Music. The album has been praised by Edward Blanco of eJazzNews.com as “a sparkling musical statement,” hailing his performance as “outstanding.” Larry Taylor of JazzReview.com adds, “His soloing and improvisational skills bring to mind legendary greats Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins.” Anchor Dan Karcher of WBGO radio station sums it up, "Yaron is a wonderful saxophonist, a part of the next generation of Jazz."
