简介

SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED, is the eleventh family CD by troubadour TOM CHAPIN. Chapin has received accolades from kids, parents, teachers and the press for his clever, wholesome and sophisticated music aimed at elementary school children and their families. With three GRAMMY® awards and five additional nominations to his credit, he is recognized as a pioneer in the genre for the high quality of the writing and musical performance. SOME ASSEMBLY REQUIRED is a fun, joyous look at being a kid. In these fifteen brand new songs, everyday events are examined with a fresh perspective, many times through the eyes of the child. Parents and children will recognize the familiar predicament of Only One Shoe; and of balancing dinner, homework and playtime in Bill Bailey, Get Yourself Back Home. A daydream turns into a hysterical tall tale in How I Became A Clown; Questions will get families talking, and thinking. The title track shows the challenge and reward of perseverance, and the fun of collaboration. The Happiest Song I Know is guaranteed to make you smile, with a list of all-time fun things. Puppy At the Pound, with it’s rollicking cajun fiddle and catchy chorus, will have kids lobbying for a puppy of their own. I’m The Only Me celebrates the individuality and value of each person. Walk the World Now, Children is a new song that feels like an old folk classic. My Face inventories the parts and functions. Chapin provides a kid-friendly lesson on composting in Brown Gold; a reluctant dancer submits to silliness in Don’t Make Me Dance. Tuck in the kids with Quiet Time, a gentle song to end the day; and Home Is The Welcoming Sound, a reassuring musical hug from “a daddy who travels, who works on the road.” Chapin and his long-time collaborators John Forster, Michael Mark, and Jon Cobert have created a cast of characters who periodically reappear in his recordings. This time, a trip to the Planetarium transports Baby Gail to a faraway galaxy where Bruno brings music to aliens in Planet Bruno. Tom has once again assembled an amazing group of musicians, including Eric Weissberg (of “Dueling Banjos” fame), Larry Campbell (former sideman for Bob Dylan), and Joanie Madden (of Cherish The Ladies). He is visited by musical friends Vanessa Williams (singing the Mom’s part on Only One Shoe), and children’s performers Dan Zanes on the moving environmental anthem Walk The World Now, Children, and Laurie Berkner on The Happiest Song I Know. Parent-child interaction is key to Chapin’s philosophy, so each song is meant to be shared, and will inspire both discussion and giggles. Chapin’s music is sung in countless classrooms, camps, churches and cars throughout North America. His live concerts and school performances bring the magic to tens of thousands of fans each year.
