简介
Small town AM radio stations in the 1970s molded Dave Lang's taste in music as much as the plastic wood grained stereo cabinets they blasted the hits through. The call letters changed as he bounced around Canada, but the playlists sure didn't. The songs ranged from country, with Glen Campbell's "Rhinestone Cowboy", to Manfred Mann's synth pop treatment of Bruce Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light", followed by Sweet's glam rock hit "Fox On The Run" and wrapped up before the commercial break with Jim Stafford's novelty smash "Spiders & Snakes". Nobody listened to just one kind of music then, and Dave Lang is a performer for people who still don't. Dave gathers themes from different genres like a monkey collecting shiny pieces of wreckage from a plane crash in the jungle. Many will know Dave as the second in command and partial inspiration for Carolyn Mark's Nashville tribute compilation, others will remember him from his days in the Timber Kings. Recently he's appeared alongside alt.country performers such as Neko Case, Kelly Hogan, the Sadies, and Carolyn Mark on the aforementioned Mint Records' "Tribute To Nashville" and was happy to have one of his songs, "She's Leaving Town" covered by the Corn Sisters and reviewed favourably in Spin Magazine. Dave Lang loves touring and has performed at venues and festivals across Canada, expect to see him in your town soon.
