简介
Composer Igor Korneitchouk has a fascination with taxonomy, as these pieces will show. This album itself is a kind of taxonomy project, cataloging two decades of Korneitchouk’s electronic music compositions. In it you’ll find a microcosm of the evolution of the sounds and technology from this period filtered through Korneitchouk’s unique sensibilities. In this taxonomy of electric, electro-acoustic, electronic and digital works on this album include a piece for solo electric guitar, a classic multi-tracked Moog synthesis realization, a MIDI piece, music made with different digital sampling techniques, music of digital spatialization and processing, and classic "musique concrete" tape manipulation. This album also features the talents of Derek Keller on electric guitar. BIO: IGOR KORNEITCHOUK, born in Madrid, Spain, 1956, of Russian and German descent, emigrated to the U.S. at the age of three. A founding member of the performance art group touch me hear, he is interested in exploring the boundaries between music, technology, nature, performance and audience participation. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in composition from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Ph.D. in composition from the University of California, San Diego. In 1989 he received a NEH fellowship to study Jazz at Yale University. Along with this Old King Cole disc, Korneitchouk's wide range of musical output is represented on several other recordings released by Old King Cole Productions, MMC, and Aucourant Recordings. American Record Guide calls his duo for prepared violins "cutting edge... handled with a good sense of dramatic timing."
