简介
Private Practice is Tom Barnes and Kevin Towers who both work in mental health services in London UK. Consequently, all profits from sales of their debut album are going to a mental health anti-stigma campaign. The album 'Private Practice' comprises 12 original tracks all either by Tom or Kevin but with both collaborating on each other's numbers. They've brought in a few great musician friends for this project including Norda Mullen (flute player for the Moody Blues and Randy Newman) who features on track nine. Everyone very generously played for free as this is a charity project. They're a guitar-based duo who, being fans of some of the World's greatest songwriters (particularly Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Van Morrison, Neil Young, Chrissie Hinds etc etc) pride themselves on paying the same attention to their lyrics as their tunes. Middle-aged Spread is a reflection on aging with an uplifting chorus. Shadows on the Wall, a beautiful love-song with superb soprano sax courtesy of David Harvey. Written not too long before the UK riots, Teen Scare was originally a satirical look at teen gang culture, now something of an anthem against lawlessness. Nothing New is as it suggests, a commentary on our disposable, must-have-now society. Keep it in the Family a song about the importance of the family using a few references from the Godfather. Public Relations - everyone's been on a train, coach or plane when you've ended up next to the passenger from hell! Another Elvis is an homage to that master songwriter, Elvis Costello. Wish you Well, a beautiful song about lost love. Grace of God, another beautiful song based on real-life experience working with the homeless, don't miss Norda Mullen's amazing flute. Unfamiliar - as it says, 'reality can be deceiving'. Relaxation is a duet about the need to take time out to relax and Got to Go Blues, like all great blues songs encapsulates life, the universe and everything with some mean guitar playing. We've had great feedback from fellow musicians, music fans and quite a few psychiatrists! This is a proper 'album' a dozen proper songs played in their optimum order, several changes of mood and pace, light and shade therein - a little bit like life. Hope you'll enjoy our music and thank you for helping a great cause.
