Marti Brom专辑介绍:by Greg AdamsSnake Ranch is Marti Brom's third album, and was recorded in Finland with the excellent rockabilly revival group the Barnshakers. The album, however, is not a straight rockabilly revival effort, although it adheres to the sounds (and often the songs) of vintage rockabilly and country music. The covers are well chosen, including Mickey & Sylvia's "No Good Lover" (sung as a duet with the Barnshakers' Vesa Haaja), Jean Shepard's "Jeopardy," and Martha Carson's "Now Stop." Brom performs a handful of originals she wrote with Haaja, and creates an effective hybrid of vintage sounds that by all rights should reach as big an audience as Wayne Hancock. Her voice, like the great women of country and rockabilly she emulates, is appealingly distinctive, and somewhat similar to Sue Thompson. Snake Ranch is a fine album from an artist with wider appeal than her niche might suggest.
