简介
Born in Baltimore, raised in P.G. and D.C., and with family all through Virginia Nuri Hazzard is truly a DMV representative. Nuri Hazzard (25) is making timeless hip-hop when he grabs the mic, paying close attention to wordplay, telling stories people relate to, and undeniable instrumentation. With musical influences of: Outkast, Parliament Funkadelic, A Tribe Called Quest, and Bob Marley, Nuri is producing music that people can feel and use in their lives. Nuri started making music about a year after beginning training as an actor in high school. He continued making music as he studied acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts too. He realized there that he had to do both saying, "They're both just means of expression, but they each cater to specific aspects of myself that are unique to each respectively. He graduated and moved to New York marking the beginning of his professional career as an artist. Since his move he's been in film, on stage, and has produced a couple bodies of music. After the release of his 2015 EP "Seein' Signs", Nuri Hazzard is following up with progressive vibes and unique media that creates the world the music is a part of. Go-go and music from the 70's and 60's taught Nuri the importance of making people move, so expect your head to knock and your body to bounce when you hear him. You can currently see him performing in "Syncing Ink" (The Alley Theater, February 7th-March 5th); a play about legacy, finding your voice, and hip-hop.
