简介
Stormtrap Asifeh (Abdul Hadi Hashem) is a beatmaker/rapper originating from Palestine. He grew up between Ramallah and Vienna. He has always been interested in technology and music since his days of childhood. Stormtrap’s musical journey began around the age of 16, where he learned to play the electric guitar and started combining his live recordings with electronic sounds on the computer. The Second Intifada was a turning point for Stormtrap, where he began to take his hobby seriously and started writing political songs influenced by the difficult reality one was (and still is) living. A few years later he co-founded the Ramallah Underground collective, with which he has performed in cities around the world, including Melbourne, Lausanne, Vienna, Hamburg, Brussels, Amsterdam, Amman, and also did an artist residency at the Delfina Foundation in London in 2009. The group then split up around the end of 2009. Stormtrap then proceeded to complete the Asifeh - Iradeh EP, which was released for free online download in February 2012. Iradeh was produced with fellow musicians Kolonel Blip (DJ) and Aras Seyhan (producer, performer) from Turkey. The EP consists of seven tracks, which deal with various themes inspired mainly by his personal experiences in Palestine and life abroad. The music consists of rap vocals, electronics, field recordings, live instruments, samples, and hip-hop beats. The tracks of Iradeh have been performed live in the cities Istanbul, Eskisehir, Utrecht, Krakow, Prague, Rome, and Naples. He has also collaborated with local and international musicians such as DJ Lethal Skillz, 2/5Bz, TAKiMi, Ethnique Punch, Deeb, Ramcess L’Hamorabi, Edd Abbas, Gharad Sh3re, and Maqdsi. Stormtrap was nominated for Soundclouder of the Day on April 9, 2013. His music has been featured in numerous films. The song “Ma Ra7 A3affen,” for example (which is a tribute to the Palestinian hunger strike in Israeli prisons), was featured in the 2013 film Shababs of Yarmouk. The song “Nateejeh bala shughol” was featured in the 2011 documentary Gaza Free Running. His work is also to be found in the documentaries Cultures of Resistance and Chronicles of a Refugee. Stormtrap also appeared in the 2010 documentary Furious Force of Rhymes: The world is yours.
