In anticipation for their upcoming ‘round trip’ mini tour with The Novembers(JP) , ‘Blue Moon’ will be TYNT’s third single release this year , featuring vocalist Yusuke Kobayashi (The Novembers) in a track that can only be described as a dark electronic serenade. In honor of collaborating with the Japanese alt-rock veterans , the arrangement of ‘Blue Moon’ shows TYNT returning to some of their original roots, contrasting layers of emotive synths with industrial sounds, playing with melodies that are at times hopeful, and at times haunting. Telling a story of obsessive and twisted relationships, the song’s progression is essentially a descent into darkness. The contrast between light and dark is something that is familiar to both bands , especially for the Novembers, whose discography since 2007, have been combining aspects of shoegaze with darker more aggressive tones of gothic rock and post-hardcore, and having a wide expansive sound that is as ever changing as it is reminiscent of the many different influences of the time. The band also has the honor of having Japan based designer/artist Atsushi_Y design the single cover. Atsushi, who has designed posters and covers for various Japanese music artists and festivals, compliments the song’s dark and ominous feeling with a simple yet striking abstract form, drawing you in with its vibrant color and fluid texture, the vintage aesthetic giving an added sense of familiar mystery.
