简介
COSTANZA’s vocals are a dreamy mix of soft, intoxicating purr and rough, addictive scold. You may be familiar with her from Tricky’s 2003 album Vulnerable, where he dubbed her “a female version of me,” but you’ve never heard her like this. Sonic Diary is a disc that exhibits her ability to engage and entrance. Think of this record as an electro-alternative mix tape; a collection of personal, evocative, tripnotic, genre-bending indietronica. COSTANZA is a visionary singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist and producer: she began her musical journey in Rome, Italy where she studied classical guitar from an early age. During the early ‘90s in New York, COSTANZA’s eyes were opened to the DISCHORD scene that helped inform her musical attitude today. Time spent in London introduced her to Aphex Twin, Warp and Rephlex records, triggering an electronic side that prompted her to start using a 4 track tape-recorder and vintage drum machines. She was immediately drawn to the study of architecture because of its structure. You’ll notice a distinct balance of shapes and colors in all of her original compositions. Expect to hear a towering, thumping bass line, provocative lyrics and unrestrained drums. The infusion of electronic elements like an analogue synthesizer or dirty, melodic electric piano and adding hypnotic beats to an otherwise punk ideology is COSTANZA’s signature. Her songs tackle diverse and intense subject matter including relationships (“Silence”), longing (“I’ve Been Waiting For You”), feminine world view (“Back Into My Mother’s Womb”) and social discourse (“50 Bullets Fired in Queens” about the Sean Bell shooting in Queens, NY, “Burqa” about the war in Afghanistan, and “Just Another Alien” – which contains lyrics taken from U.S. Immigration form). Three mesmerizing covers, Johnny Cash\'s \"God\'s Gonna Cut You Down,\" Fugazi\'s \"Promises\" and Italian star Rino Gaetano\'s \"I Tuoi Occhi Sono Pieni di Sale\" are true to the passion of the originals, but reinterpreted in shocking new ways. Also, look for a haunting, 14 minutes bonus track, “Coming Home.” COSTANZA currently works in her studio in Brooklyn where she alternates between music production and visual art. Her resume includes composing music for hit TV shows CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (“Burqa,” “In The Sun”) and The L Word (“Burqa,” “All the Girls Get Together and Rule”) and commercials (Cadillac). A new album with producer/electronic artist Marco Messina under the alter-ego B_CO.ME is planned to be released fall 2008. She plans to deliver a second full length album MAKE ME ELECTRIC during early winter of 2009 on her own ZerOKilled Music label.
