简介
Jack Wood's first concept album Per Ankh offers accesible and rather simple music that will lead the listener back to the old days of Egypt. This album portaits the life and vision of the female and male pharoahs Hatchepsut and Akhenaten, but now transferred into sound in which alot of flute sounds can be heard in the first tracks, which are dedicated to Hatchepsut. In track 5, some nice choral textures are implemented as well, while you delve further into the sonic scenery of Karnak. It sometimes slightly reminded me of the former music of John Mark, but surely has enough own signature to paint its own cinematic picture for the listener. This is an album really worth the try, so step in and enjoy the journey which lies just around the corner of one's own imagination. Bert Strolenberg KLEM Magazine The Netherlands
