For their 5th album Telemachus have created an ideal fusion of everything thus far achieved, successfully marrying something of Miller's experimental tendencies to Wark's eloquent songwriting. After the funky, tight opening instrumental, the songs - here underpinned by plenty of focused guitar riffing - are allowed to breath, generally soft and spacious, taking their time, the mood tending towards 'lightly chilled' throughout. Of course, 'Gumtree', 'Mr Murray' and 'Wanderin' Around' hark back to something of their brasher days, while 'Hovercraft' and 'The Shallows' take us even further into electronic channels. Perhaps it's 'Colouring Song' that's the finest moment here, the delicate guitar lines and hushed vocals slowly building over an eerie, echoed beat.
