BIOGRAPHY LUNA MAE: TIME TO RELEASE THE BUTTERFLY She immediately catches everyones attention with her striking hair. The right half all blonde, the left half pitch-black. The same goes for her music. The 23 year old Luna Mae effortlessly hits a high note with her stunning range during a funky up-tempo, and later on moves you with a mysterious, fairylike song. She has already come a long way in her solo career. Luna recently performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and shared the mic with Beyoncé at one of her concerts. Waylon (known from ‘‘The Common Linnets’’, that reached the second place in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2014), Glennis Grace & Ruth Jacott also know exactly where to find her when they need some tight backing vocals. Butterfly & EP Sky 11.11.14, Luna released her official debut music-video/single ‘Butterfly’. A tender, fairylike, yet powerful song with a filmic, mysterious music-video. Her first official EP ‘Sky’ is produced by Gino-Cochise (known from Badjekkah), contains 4 songs including ‘Butterfly’. The other 3 songs are a mixture of soul, country & funk. All lyrics are written by Luna herself. From Washington D.C. to North Sea Jazz Luna has already seen a lot of places on her musical journey. She participated on the ‘‘We Are The World’’ collaboration (worldwide Youtube edition ft. Lisa Lavie, with more then 6 million views), and performed with them in Washington D.C. in 2010. A year later she won the dutch tv-show ‘‘Korenslag’’ with the ZO! Gospelchoir, followed by gigs throughout The Netherlands. For 2 years Luna did the backing vocals for Waylon, with whom she did a lot of national and international gigs. Besides that, she always put her main focus on her solo career. In 2013 Luna performed solo at the North Sea Jazz Festival, together with the American saxefonist Lakecia Benjamin. Luna currently does the backing vocals for Glennis Grace. From New Wavers to Conservatory Luna Mae, born 1991 in Arnhem, now living in Amsterdam, breathes music. As a little girl she was surrounded by punk-rockers and new wavers. Needless to say, with a musician as a father, who once was the support act for U2. When she was 16 she started her first music education in Amsterdam (ROC Music-Artist). After that she studied at the Conservatory in Rotterdam. And now - a lot of singing lessons, gigs, stages and miles further - it’s time for the next step. It’s time to release the Butterfly into the Sky.
