简介

It’s been a long journey, but with will and determination, for once I can hear the success bell ringing. What is success one may ask…and what is happiness. As the only boy blessed with the presence of two older sisters and a younger sister, my life cycle was mostly centered around my toys and devices as a kid and my Dad whenever he is at home. Living in a situation like this gives one ample time to think and plan about the perfect future even at a tender age. Every plan and action taken are all built up for the greater picture, which is to be capable of putting the weight on my shoulders when that time comes calling. I together with my sisters were natured in peace and love by the best parents any kid could ask for. One of my greatest decision and saddest moment was when I revealed to my parents and sisters about my decision to further my education here in China. It was all for the prospect of a better future. I had it all planned out and luckily for me I had the most trusting and loving family to back me up. The sacrifices my parents made just to get me on the first plane to China is something worthy for another time to be discussed upon. I arrived in China in the year 2009 with the mindset of meeting old folks with white beards dressed up in shaolin monk style dresses with beautiful and handsome young folks adored in the best of Chinese old fashion wears. Atleast, because these were what we fantasized the Great China is, after watching a couple of old Chinese TV programs back in my home country. Programms like ‘Journey to the West’ was such a hit that it got creating our own reviews to it during classes hours since we all basically don’t understand the Chinese language the programms were in. Upon reaching China, I faced my greatest fear and my number one priority which was completing my four year Education to make my parents back home happy and proud. It’s all I ever wanted. To make long story short and be able to summarize my first four years hussle and bussle into a paragraph or two, all I can say is, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the teachings from my Parents, the love my sisters showed me and how eager they were to see me again. During my first year in China, my Parents were faced with economic hardship and I had to find an extra job during the weekend to be able to support my tuition fees among others. I bounced from one apartment to the other in search of the most affordable apartment with a good and understanding Landlord. I made friends, especially Chinese friends who held my hand and taught me the Chinese culture. I grew in it and loved it. The hospitality in this country made me call it my second home although I always had to be chased down by the Visa office just to renew my visa weeks or sometimes just days till they expired. Renewing my visa was also another issue for me since the renewal of student visas was connected to the process of paying up my University’s tuition fees but with the financial situation I was facing here and what my family was going through back home, I frequent the visa office every three months. As I held on the grips of surviving, I found love. The kind of love you see in the movie and wonder if they truly exist. The kind of love I used to debate about with my Chinese friends. We were together through out my four year term in the University. We would visit her family on every Chinese new year with gifts and the likes. I was accepted into the extended family just like that..no questions asked. Her mum, one of my best friends and mum, looks after me just like the son she never had. Her dad, who knew I do neither smoke nor drink alcohol, will pour me a glass of water whiles he sips white wine whenever we are in public just so his could blend with mine. Such an understanding parents in-law I had. My love and I had what is called the ‘Naked Love’. I met her when the only thing I could boast of was a friend’s borrowed bicycle I used to ride to school. She met me when she was also bouncing from one work to the other, trying to find the perfect job and get acquainted with the Nanjing weather since she was from Beijing. Our love together was tried and tested. We still remember the days where we had to design on how we going to live on a 100RMB note together for a week..yes..a full seven days week. Our favorite meal together was steamed bun with a bottle of coca cola which could take us through out the day till we could wake up late at night crawling up the fridge for snacks it never had.
