简介
Here’s what the critics have to say about "Circus Under the Sky": Entertainment Weekly praised the band’s "catchy, spirited blues and funk-tinged rock." Time Magazine wrote, "This homegrown Circus puts on quite a show." The Musician’s Exchange: "Top-notch." 4 stars The Manhattan Mirror: "After a year of whiny Gen-Xers discontent with the world in general, 13th Floor is a welcome breath of fresh air." The Musician’s Trade Journal: "Flawless. From the songwriting to the musicianship to the production, this is one top-shelf recording." 13th Floor was founded by singer/pianist Josh Kutchai of Charlottesville, VA and drummer Mike Kardos of West Long Branch, NJ. The band played the East Coast for much of the 90s; the live band included Bruce Gatewood on guitar and John Ross on bass. When "Circus Under the Sky" was originally released in 1996, it was the world’s first indie "enhanced CD," in which music and multimedia were on the same disc. Interestingly, the technology was fairly limited at the time, and listeners of the audio CD had to manually forward past track one, which contained all the multimedia information. The album’s first singles were "Nothing at All" and "Judy." Both songs charted on a number of radio stations. Though not technically a single, the 8-minute epic "Four-Letter Word" got lots of airplay as well. Currently, Josh Kutchai is leading his new band, Roadside Alibi (www.roadsidealibi.com). Mike Kardos received an M.F.A. and later a Ph.D. in creative writing and currently teaches at Mississippi State University. Information about his published work can be found at michaelkardos.com
