Jimmy Michaels' new release "Sweet Love, Sweet Memories" has brought together 18 familiar melodies presented (mostly) in instrumental arrangements with some of his biggest production work ever released as a solo artist. Every song presented here holds a personal memory, which no one but Jimmy himself would know what those memories were or from what part of his life. The first 11 cuts are presented in arrangements that take us back to the days of Beautiful Music/Easy Listening radio from the late 1970's through mid 1980's. All sounding like they were arranged and recorded back then for BM Radio programming. The last 7 cuts take us to late 1970's styled disco instrumental sounds, including a Eurodisco styled instrumental rendition of Golden Earring's early MTV era Rock classic "Twilight Zone", which is quite a different spin on the famous tune to say the least. 2 cuts that may not be familiar to all are "She's Gonna Be There Tonight" and "Ask Me To Dance". Both were library music cuts originally issued in the late 1970's for TV and Film use only by library music legend Richard "Dick" Hieronymus, and are remade here as a continuous play 2 song medley. Both remakes were endorsed by Hieronymus himself, who happens to be a good friend of Michaels'. "Ask Me To Dance", being the only true vocal tune on this release, is sang by hot new Indie sensation Kayla Jacobs who is currently riding up the Indie Dance charts in Europe areas with Eleftherios Mukuka's "Rainfall" and "Waterskies" . The original version of "Ask Me To Dance" as mentioned above was never released commercially, but may be familiar to some from it's use in the early 80's sitcom "The Facts Of Life", the 1982 teen comedy drive-in classic "Goin' All The Way", and also in it's very first appearance as an instrumental Funk/Disco arrangement (which this remake is based on) heard on the 1978 James Hong directed comedy "The Girl Next Door". If you're a fan of either the old Easy Listening radio sounds, a 70's Disco dancin' freak, or maybe both, take the trip back with "Sweet Love, Sweet Memories". It will be the sweetest journey you've taken in a long time.
