简介
Writing and performing for over 18 years, Cheryl Beatty is a folk/blues force to behold. With soaring vocals and a penchant for the poetic, her soulful songs are about yearning and passion, loss and love, troubles and tides. Born in a small rural town in South-Eastern Ontario, Cheryl Beatty surrounded herself with music from a young age. She grew up singing in choirs which lent itself to a fine ear for harmonies and, being a creative mind, she taught herself piano and guitar and is currently tackling the mandolin as well. She naturally gravitated toward songwriting and lyricism – adding that element to her music in her young adult years, and has a large repertoire of songs in the folk and blues varieties. Cheryl has been performing her music for the past 18+ years, and continues to capture the quiet attention of audiences with her powerful, clear and haunting vocals. Cheryl's music has been used in a few independent, feature-length Canadian films, including A Winter Tale – by Frances-Anne Solomon (Leda Serene Films, 2007), and Bull – by Kent Tessman (The General Coffee Company Film Productions, 2008). Cheryl's song, 'Blue Room Hotels,' was also used in a commercial for Coke Light as part of a submission by Director/Cinematographer, Lloyd Choi, for the MOFILM, Cannes Lions 2010: Make an Ad Video Contest. The ad placed 3rd. Cheryl currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.
