Elize van der Laan is an aspiring high school Singer-Songwriter from Sisters, Oregon. Over the past few years, she has been greatly involved in the Americana Project, the educational outreach program of the Sisters Folk Festival. Inspired by the community’s great support for high school students to pursue music, Elize recorded her first album, “My Mountain,” at Echo Ridge Studios in Sisters this summer. She will be spending the next two years studying at an international school in India. Through her songs, she expresses both her eagerness to explore the world and her gratitude towards the place and the community that has helped her develop into who she is.
