简介
Kristina Fuchs LINDEN Improvisations on old Dutch songs Kristina Fuchs: Voice, Hang, Loops Mete Erker: Saxophone, Bass clarinet Jeroen Van Vliet: Piano, Electronics The radio journalist Ate Doornbosch (1926-2010) created a big collection of original recordings for his radio program “Onder de Groene Linde”. In the last century, he traveled the Netherlands and recorded people who could still sing the old songs. This collection has been partly digitalized and released in 2008. In these songs we find a particular sort of freedom. They were first sung and only later written down, That creates room for original interpretations, for a freedom that is not there if the notated music was first. The songs can be changed, sung anew, modern versions can be created. Maybe this is the most “authentic” way to perform folk music: creative, modern, improvised. Kristina Fuchs was born in Biel, Switzerland and lives partly in Amsterdam. She won the Christa Widlund prize for talented young singers in 2005. She has performed in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Belgium, France, Finland, India, Russia, England and Ireland. She performed as a soloist in concert halls like the North Sea Jazz Festival, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, National Concert Hall Dublin and many jazz and classical venues. She worked with Kader Abdolah, Eric Vloeimans, Wolfert Brederode, Theo Loevendie, Jaap van Zweden, Jim McNeely, Wu Wei, Jeanne Lee, Ronan Guilfoyle, Dré Pallemaerts, Donnacha Dennehy, Ensemble Zerafin, Axyz Ensemble, Multifoon, Electra New Music, Ensemble MAE, Das Neue Ensemble, Residentie Orkest, RTE Symphony Orchestra, Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company and many others. Kristina Fuchs has released many CD’s, four under her own name, containing many of her own compositions. Next to her performance practice as a jazz and improvising singer she is also a performer of contemporary classical music and New Swiss Folk Music. Kristina Fuchs is principal teacher for jazz voice at the Royal Flemish Conservatory of Antwerp (Artesis). Dutch saxophone player Mete Erker is renowned for his rich and warm sound, strong drive, and his very personal style and expressive way of playing: a combination of raw energy and lyricism, at times reminiscent of the great jazz tenors of the ’60′s. Throughout the years he’s worked with music masters like Peter Erskine, David Liebman, Senegalese master drummer Doudou N’Diaye Rose, Southafrican jazz legend Winston Mankunku, and Russian piano virtuoso Simon Nabatov. He released 50+ albums and toured the world in a variety of settings, ranging from a modern dance choreography by the hungarian Reka Szabo to popular Dutch crossover acts like New Cool Collective and Zuco 103. Currently Mete Erker is working with the Artvark Saxophone Quartet featuring classical soprano Claron McFadden, dutch-impro-group Estafest, the NUjazzgroup FullDuppleXX, electronic soundwizard Michel Banabila, and his own Mete Erker Trio. Jeroen van Vliet is known for his lyrical style and clear sound at the piano. He is a composer, pianist and keyboardplayer in a wide variety of groups. In 1985 and 1988 he won both first- and soloist prizes at the main contests of the Netherlands. Throughout the years he worked with international artists as (a.o.) Bob Malach, Kenny Wheeler, John Zorn, Norma Winstone, Charly Mariano and Erkan Ogur, Jakob Bro. His cooperation with trumpeter Eric Vloeimans resulted in a number of albums and concerts, both as a duo as well as in the group Gatecrash (Edison Award in 2007). He received the Composition Assignment of the North Sea Jazzfestival 2008, In 2014 Jeroen van Vliet was awarded the most important prize in the Netherlands for jazz and improvised music, The Boy Edgar Prijs. In 2014 he released 2 albums, the solo-album 'Wait' and the trio-cd OGU. The new album 'Eno Supo' by Estafest, as well as the albums 'Where water travels home' by Simin Tander 4tet and 'On' by Udo Pannekeet were released. All got great reviews. Press review of the avant-première in Eindhoven NL: Trio sings of love and sorrow Yesterday Eindhoven premiered the brand new repertoire of the LINDEN trio featuring pianist Jeroen van Vliet who was awarded the Boy Edgar jazz price last week. Led by singer Kristina Fuchs, the trio, also featuring saxophonist Mete Erker, dug out old songs and molded them into a new form. Fuchs had leafed through the archives of Ate Doornbosch who recorded traditional songs in the whole Netherlands for about thirtyfive years and broadcasted them on the radio in the series “Onder de Groene Linde”. Loose manners and murder appeared to be appreciated subjects. Of those Fuchs sung at the café of designer Piet Hein Eek. The trio surrounded the songs with warmth. Van Vliet showed that his price was more than deserved, and Fuchs sounded sensual, teasing and mischievous, while Erker put down his own lines full of care. René van Peer, Eindhovens Dagblad
