简介
"Alleluias for Orchestra" is a compilation of pieces by South Dakota composer Stephen Yarbrough. Greg Sandow, music critic for the Wall Street Journal has this to say about Yarbrough's CD: "I enjoyed your CD - appealing, well-written music, absolutely makes its effect. Very clear, nicely crafted. And of course tuneful! It's no wonder you get so many performances. And good ones, too, to judge from the recordings. It's fascinating for me to hear music aimed at an audience nobody in New York really thinks about. Composers here, I think, have the idea that they're aiming much "higher." But they routinely miss whatever they think their target is. You don't! Not that I'm saying you deliberately tailor your work for a particular audience. It just seems so firmly wedded to the people who'd enjoy hearing it." Stephen Yarbrough is Composer In Residence at the University of South Dakota where he has taught Theory/Composition for twenty four years. He has received many commissions, including the 2004 Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the National Symphony Orchestra's American Residency Composer Commission for the State of South Dakota. His music has been performed by groups such as the National Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Iowa Symphony Orchestra, the Greater Dallas Youth Symphony, and many others. His work is published by TRN Music Publishers, National Music Publishers, the Evergreen Press, and his own company, the Sycamore Press. He may be reached at syarbrou@usd.edu.
