Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers are a wild band of Nashville musicians who dress like pirates and play a rollicking mix of piratical sing-alongs, rousing historical rave-ups, afro-cuban tinged ballads, Cajun sea shanties, and bluesy Irish jigs.

Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers play with the fervor of the Pogues and the sensitivity of the Buena Vista Social Club. Their songs that transport you to the wildest pub in Port Royal at the turn of the seventeenth century. Their CD “The Blue Buccaneer- Songs Inspired by the Golden Age of Pirates” is a rowdy and evocative work that transcends any aspect of novelty that one might expect at first glance. Tom’s theatricality and musicianship make for an explosive mix. His songs conjure up a life on the seas in an era when the only hope for destitute sailors was to go “on the account”, to become pirates.

"A Pirate's Christmas" is an uptempo mix of new and old songs, featuring sing-alongs and instrumentals. The CD starts with the title track "Yo Ho Ho (Pirate's Christmas)", a story of how our pirates saved Christmas one year. Next is a new original, a New Year shanty called "A Good Year To You", and the track is a a groove-y latin tinged instrumental take on "O Come O Come Emmanuel". Eight more classics and soon-to-be classics round out the collections, with performances on guitar, dobro, fiddle, mandolin, bass, drums, bagpipes(!), chains, and the introduction of a new piratical instrument, the "Bloe Drum".
