Some songs are as timeless as romance itself and ‘Portrait Of My Love’ is definitely one of these all time classics. Written by David West and Cyril Orander, Matt Monro’s version of the song (produced by the great George Martin) reached number 3 in the UK charts in 1960. Some 50 years on, Bob Drury’s recording stays true to the original arrangement but is in no way an attempt to imitate Matt’s distinctive vocal.
