简介
Mark Moss is a singer / songwriter based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. "I will keep writing and performing my music until I am no longer able. My music is my gift to whoever is willing to listen." Find out where he's playing next at his home page! Mark first got involved in music through family and church.... His upbringing always involved music - his Mom and Sister played piano, and it seemed everybody was always singing, including his Dad warming up for choir in the car on the way to church. The influence was good - sing like you don’t care anyone’s listening! As a result, Mark started singing and performing in choirs when he was about 8. Music just always made sense to him. When he was little, he tried guitar, but quit because "it didn't sound like Kiss." It was a nylon string classical guitar – go figure! He played trumpet for years growing up, but never stopped loving the sound of a loud electric guitar. Then came the 80s... he decided to give guitar another try and hasn't put it down since - perhaps to the chagrin of friends, family and neighbors. Mark's biggest influences in music have been bands he loves and the singers he learned to sing to, such as: Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Stones, Don Dokken, Bruce Dickenson, Sebastian Bach, Mark Slaughter, Roger Daltry... the list could go on and on. Mark joined his first band at the tender age of 16. As soon as he could drive, he was playing local gigs in a band called "Pressure Point." They were all 16 or 17 and "jamming was such a rush, especially playing in front of people." Yep, he was addicted. He joined his next band in college - "Branded Ace/Wasted Talent/Vexxed." They were a classic rock band playing at local bars and parties. The guys played out a lot, covering the new, heavy rock of the 80s. This was also the time and band that two key skills developed - Mark really worked on writing original music, and learning to sing and play at the same time. He thanks his old drummer for pushing him to do that! In the 90s, Mark joined an established band called “Whiplash.” They covered the newest songs of the era. It was a five piece with a lead singer and manager - all he did was show up, shred guitar and help with harmonies. He and his rockstar mullet had the best time with those guys!!! Today, sponsored by Miller Lite, Swirly Gig and "Forever in Ink" tattoo & piercing; Mark is obviously continuing to have a great time performing. He recently hooked up with some old friends in his new venture with Super Size Seven. He also does solo acoustic performances, covering classic and new rock, as well as continuing to write original music. Check out his acoustic website at www.markmoss.net. Outside of music, Mark loves to golf, fish, has a black belt in Karate (www.iskc.com) and will be your new best friend if you like Miller Lite too. Mark's motto is that he "will never stop playing, performing, writing, feeling or being music. Those with the gift of music can only give back to others who enjoy listening to the music, and for those people, I’m doing everything I can."
