Musically, From Miracles to Ruined brings a mixture of many of Spasm's influences from groove rock and funk to progressive metal and even something heavier. Lyrically, From Miracles to Ruined is a cynical and sometimes tongue-in-cheek commentary on different facets of society. The album's content is based on a poem written by the band's vocalist titled "In the Eye." The album tells the story of an unnamed protagonist as they lose faith and become disillusioned. Musically, it is presented in five sections that illustrate the different stages of the character's disillusionment, each divided by a soundscape. The band recorded, mixed, and mastered the album themselves over the span of 16 months beginning in April of 2013 and ending in August of 2014.
