简介
Sarah Kernochan's first album debuted in 1974; she was called variously "the female Randy Newman," "Carly Simon with balls," and "willowy and weird." Her piano-based music, while basically pop in arrangement, showed influences ranging from Harry Nilsson to Chopin to Kurt Weill. Her lyrics were frank, sly, and always surprising. Producer Don Heckman added a jazz flavor, with musicians such as Randy Brecker and Tony Levin joining in. Kernochan's recording career came to an abrupt end after her second album "Beat Around the Bush" came out. She went on to become a noted screenwriter (9 and 1/2 Weeks, Impromptu, What Lies Beneath among others), a two-time Academy Award-winning documentary filmmaker, and a novelist (Dry Hustle, Jane Was Here). This year she issued a third album of songs titled "Decades of Demos." She currently lives in New York with husband James Lapine.
