简介
by Ashleigh KittleAs a founding member of the musical foursome Dru Hill, Woody Rock experienced immeasurable success, watching as the group's albums went platinum and their songs topped charts. However, for Rock, success seemed to be lacking. Desiring to pursue the spiritual aspect of his life through music, Rock left Dru Hill in 1999. He released his first solo gospel project, Soul Music, in 2001. The Gospo Centric release combines smooth R&B sounds with urban music and upbeat hip-hop. Featuring a bevy of musical guests, the album includes performances by Mary, Mary, Men of Standard, and Dru Hill. Overall, the album is extraordinary in every respect from musical arrangements to vocals. The project is intricately crafted, each song standing on its own, yet managing to produce a cohesive whole. Songs include "Testimony" and "Good to Be Alive."
