The recording for "Noël" began in December, 2010, after Rändi and guitar player George Sawyn had some particularly successful performances of Christmas music together. "Close to My Heart" had recently been released, sales were going well, and fans were already asking for more. To re-establish the fantastic energy of the first collaboration, producer/cellist Hans Christian and saxaphone player/flutist Woody Mankowski were contacted and were more than willing to take on another recording project. The songlist emerged during the recording as suggestions were sought among the musicians, but also from friends and family. Some are familiar favorites, and some are more obscure, but all allowed the foursome to express their sincere, sometimes tender, sometimes joyful experiences of the holiday season.
