简介

After two years of gathering information, analyzing different timbres, getting more attached with nature, listening to the quiet subtle sound of the environment and studying about the texture and sonority of different forms of natural sounds, Sägnik Basu finally releases his debut album called ' Celesphere Plane'. Presently doing his Undergraduate study in Music Technology and Electroacoustic music, Sägnik has been producing his own style of electronic music for a couple of years; combining Soundscape with Ambient music, Melodic patterns with groovy drum beats and soothing atmospheric pads with some elements of dub.....so on. He tries to convey the idea of visualizing sound and music, creating a whole new environment and surrounding just by listening to sound and music. He emphasizes on the word 'feel' as it is the main essential feature of his music. Electronic music and sound art has played an important role in his life and combining all his influences in his work makes his style of producing electronic music very refreshing, innovative and different. "The tradition of sound in a natural medium with an exposition of the expanse of space is aptly represented in the track. It is evocative of the clarity of a natural circumstance…and in this it unites images of the wind filling up the biosphere with the rustling of random leaves and the shifting of minute atmospheric details. The sound is organically precise in its depiction of leaves strewn on a bed of grass, and it assimilates the patterns of the sunlight grazing against the angular shadows of the grass. Details are used to convey a complete picture of sound where moments rather than melody is used to depict the scene. Ambience cannot be constructed…instead one may say that ambient or an ambient soundscape must be diffused within the conscious hearing mind. Therefore each hearing of this track may conjure up new vistas in recognition. Ambient music is successful only when there is a lack of direct instruction from the composer. The track should coincide with the thought process and reveal itself gradually and magnanimously upon the listener. It should formulate ideas and assist in the invocation of creative imagery and emotions which are inherent to the self. The track in this regard is successful in doing so to the extent that one can gauge multiple instances of the reproduction of thought. The imagery it conveys is direct with the emphasis on space and the liberties of space which has already been mentioned. Thus the mind is free to see that the track demands and denotes liberty in thought in what is exclusively a natural environment. There is a distinct and deliberate mitigation of tangible obtrusive elements and instead the focus is on a softer bed of malleable objects…which the sound and the mind may conversely alter. Flowers and Grass would be immediate occurrences and the image of them rustling together…and minute pollen grains soaring in the wind in an undulated yet constant motion is explored not through their original sounds but through organically represented soundscapes. It is thus a track which seeks to prompt the mind to thought and not imbibe its essence immediately. To sum up in entirety it is a plane of existence where immediacy of vision is replaced by languid sound. The images are obvious but concealed beneath a layer of sound, which is constructed with the intention of justifying this Celesphere. " - Krishnaroop Chakravarty I would like to thank my mum 'mummy' for supporting me all the time and making me realize the importance of nature, Krishnā 'keshto' Roop for giving me ideas about the name of the album and the long but very interesting (HiFi) review, Vishesh 'Vicky' Agarwal - thank you so much for those wonderful and transcendental lyrics on 'Floating Point'... ,Padma ' Paddy' Subramanium for clicking some beautiful pictures for my album cover, Hannah Cook for her charming voice and those whispers were so amazing (really sorry about messing a bit with your voice), Simon 'Si' Newborn for giving your precious time and booking the studio in the last moment (I know you are a very busy man), Seneer 'homeboy' Asif for dozing off while listening to my music and appreciating me for having a good night sleep, Joshua Hendry for making me realize that credit card is not the only option.
